The palings are based on normal timber industry nominal timber sizes which, when planed down, give an approximate actual width. The sizes are nominal 100 mm wide, (approx 96 mm) nominal 80 mm (approx 76mm) and the nominal 50 mm (approx 46 mm) wide blank palings.
